Puncture

Puncture is a procedure that is most often performed with long marked needles through a vaginal or abdominal approach under ultrasound control. This procedure is used for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes when it is necessary to analyze the content of punctate (cytological, bacteriological), which is very important for further treatment. Sometimes it is a cyst, and sometimes it is a larger amount of fluid in the Douglas space. This procedure is also used in the treatment of ectopic pregnancy, parametritis, and pelveoperatonitis. Puncture is performed under general or local anesthesia, depending on the approach. The intervention lasts a short time. It is not necessary to rest long after the intervention.
