Colposcopy

Diagnostic & Treatment
Colposcopy

Colposcopy is a diagnostic procedure in which changes in the tissue of the cervix, vagina and vulva are monitored under a light, magnifying optical device (colposcope).
Many benign, premalignant and malignant changes in these areas have noticeable characteristics that can be detected by such an examination.

For a colposcopic examination, a Videocolposcope can be used, which transmits a magnifying image of tissue changes to the screen so that patients can also have an insight into what kind of changes are involved.

This method is the most useful in the early detection of changes at the transition of the mucous membrane of the vagina to the mucous membrane of the cervix, which can be caused by a tumor, genital herpes, Human Papilloma Virus (condylomas), but also in other forms of changes in the genital tissue.

In the event of an unfavorable result of the PAPA test, a colposcopic examination is recommended for further diagnosis and treatment.
