Diagnostic & Treatment

It is recommended that women between the ages of 20 and 35 visit a gynecologist for a regular breast examination once every three years, and do a self-palpation once a month.
For women over 35 years of age, it is recommended to go for a breast examination at a gynecologist combined with an ultrasound examination once a year.
Breast examination is performed by touch and observation. A breast swab is also taken in order to perform a cytological analysis of secretions or possibly a puncture biopsy for histological analysis. An ultrasound examination of the breast sheds a lot of light on the diagnosis and is often applied, and when the breast has less glandular tissue, a mammography is performed.
Regular breast examination is a successful preventive tool for the early detection of cancer, and also for diagnosing cysts and other breast diseases.
